... and into the Light

Long distance friendships aren't all they're cracked up to be... unfortunately.

The visit with my friend from Newfoundland was amazing. We talked and lauged and cried and had a really great visit. It wasn't long. Her doctor's appointment was interesting and was both good and bad at the same time. She does not have a degenerative brain disease (MS, Parkinson's etc.) Which means the problems she is experiencing are psychosymatic. Her brain is creating them without her being consciously aware. She was deveastated as she had gone through psychological testing already. But we talked some more and she seemed a little more accepting. It is going to take a lot of time though.

Now my best friend. Whom I love.
Well - how to put it...
She's lazy...
She is more than happy to lie in bed and sleep all day and then she would say to me - you should have got me up. As if I am her Mom or sister or something. n It was very weird. I am a night person - but she is a crazy night person, she stays up until 4am, then sleeps til 2 or 3 if she doesn't have to work. Then she said that she overslept - but it was her choice to stay in bed.
I don't think I'm bitter - at least not about the sleeping part... we did have fun too.
We did some shopping, played cards, and watched movies.

Overall...
I had a quiet, relazing wekke away with family and friends. Read a little, watched a couple of movies, kept up with tv. Played a lot of "blego" with Julia (mega blocks lego - we can't figure out where the 'b' came from, and watched 'Shrek' 8 times.
It was a fun week.

Sounds like a great time for the most part. I was wondering about your Newfoundland friend. Do you mind if I ask what is happening to her? I have had issues in the past with psychosymatic happenings. Do you live with your best friend? If so, it might not be a horrible thing to help her get in the habit of waking up at a decent hour if you are around the house. Perhaps she is one of those people who need to be pushed before they will change. I don't know, just a thought. Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving if that is your thing!
My Newfoundland friend - Dea - she started having headaches, then her hands started shaking uncontrolably, she was also having seizures. They doctors put her on anti-seizure medication (which did lesson the seizures, but they eventually stopped anyway). It got to the point the shaking was so bad they thought it might be Parkinson's or MS. They did all sorts of genetic testing, every other test known to man and she was not gettign any answers. Meanwhile, she was having a difficult time walking, talking, and the shaking was getting jerkier and more pronounced. The entire thing is so frustrating simply because she was tested for the psychosymatic syndrome and the initial testing was negative. Now the specialists say that it can be nothing but... so Dea is having a really hard time accepting the diagnosis. AAAAAHHHHH!!!! very frustrating!

As for my other best friend... she lives 2 hours away and will probably never change. She will get up if she absolutely has to but she really is just.... her.
I am sorry to hear all that about Dea. Hopefully, something will help down the road. I had a friend who constantly "ticked", like jerked his head to the side for no reason and they said it was psychosymatic. They gave him an antipsychotic and it went away, but his personality seemed to be effected as well. Maybe there will be a break through sometime. Oh, and you other friend yep she will change if she wants. Take Care!
Yoo-Hoo!!!! You win Guess That Movie!!
